The National Securities Superintendency (SUNAVAL) issued an official alert addressed to stock market players and the general public to prevent possible cybercrime in the national financial sector, which is carried out through social networks.
The regulatory body directly recommended that the subjects under its supervision and the investment community “remain alert to attempts or situations of electronic fraud generated through messaging applications (such as Telegram and WhatsApp) and social networks”.
According to the warning made on his Instagram account, these irregular maneuvers are carried out by “persons not authorized by the National Superintendency of Securities (SUNAVAL)”. These citizens attract users by promoting deceptive schemes through digital platforms.
The agency explained that these informal intermediaries offer to make investments and obtain returns in instruments not authorized by SUNAVAL, which represents a direct risk to the assets of the users.
Faced with this situation, the agency reminded citizens that “information relating to public securities brokers, brokerage firms, brokerage firms, stock exchanges, agricultural product brokers, agricultural brokerage firms, brokerage firms for agricultural products, exchanges for agricultural products and inputs, issuers and investment advisors, duly authorized, is available on the Sunaval website”.
