STUDENT LEADER ESTEBAN UTRERA IS ASSASSINATED

  • Esteban Utrera's body appeared with obvious signs of the beating to which he was subjected and with several deep knife wounds.
  • Under these circumstances, the body of this young leader of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) was found.
  • Utrera belonged to the leading cadres of the PCV of La Victoria, edo. Aragua.
  • Its perpetrators were the repressive bodies of Aragüeño, under orders of the governor, the adec José Miguel Pérez Hernández.
  • Esteban Utrera worked in the organization and training of cadres at the Francisco Ustariz High School and the Industrial Technical School.
  • On that same date, Romulo Betancourt unleashed fierce political persecution, through a joint operation of police and military forces, whose objective was to pave the way for the outlawing of parties disaffected by his surrendering plan in favor of predatory American capital.
  • Another victim was killed in that week of repressive actions. It was in Ejido, Edo. Mérida, assaulted by the Municipal Police, the teacher Héctor Trujillo, at a time when on a chair he spoke words to those gathered there to go out and demonstrate peacefully against the policies of the Betancourt Government.
