The deputy of the Podemos party in the Congress of Spain, Javier Sánchez, accused the Government of that country of having “a double rod” in its foreign policy towards Latin America, specifically in the case of Venezuela.

Sánchez ruled that while Spain opens the door to Edmundo González as the supposed “president of Venezuela”, the Government maintains a tougher stance against refugees from other countries, such as Saharawi asylum seekers.

“If they are poor Africans, there is no asylum worth it. On the other hand, if it's the Venezuelan extreme right, you welcome it with open arms,” the deputy lashed.

Regarding the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, the parliamentarian pointed out that apparently the Government wants to “repeat the same operation of Juan Guaidó, which did not yield any results and which did not contribute to the ties between Spain and Venezuela (...) And you, Mr. Minister, are raising crows”.

The deputy has questioned Spain's position in relation to the Venezuelan extreme right, which has been involved in creating hoaxes against the country's own government in media such as The Objective.
