The president of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, demanded from the Argentine president, Javier Milei, a public rectification after he called his wife corrupt on Sunday at a Vox event in Madrid and described her as a “calaña”.
In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, personally summoned the Argentine ambassador to Spain and threatened to break diplomatic relations if there is no apology.
During his speech at the CREO economic forum, Sánchez said “We have asked Milei for a public rectification and the government's response will be in accordance with the dignity of Spanish democracy and the bonds of brotherhood that unite Spain and Argentina.”
The head of the Spanish Executive sent a message to the opposition “defending Spanish institutions from the insults and defamation of foreign leaders does not understand the buts” and added “beyond ideology, there is education and patriotism”.
