Spain: Parliamentary elections begin in Catalonia

This Monday, the early parliamentary elections began in Catalonia with the opening of the polling stations, in which 135 deputies will be elected to make up the legislative body.

According to the Government of Catalonia, around 5.4 million people are called to participate in these elections, which will define the future of the northeastern region of Spain for the next four years.

The 2,695 polling stations opened their doors at 9:00 (local time) to kick off the voting day until 8:00 at night, with the first results expected to be announced on Sunday night.
