Spain: Congress approved Amnesty for Catalan separatists

This Thursday, the Spanish parliament approved the amnesty law that will benefit separatists prosecuted for their role in the failed attempt at independence in Catalonia, in 2017.

This initiative, agreed by the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (USSR) with Together for Catalonia (Junts) and the Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC), allowed the inauguration of the president of the government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, six months ago.

With a speech based on the fact that amnesty promotes reconciliation with the region, Sánchez wrote on the social network X, “In politics, as in life, forgiveness is more powerful than resentment. Today, Spain is more prosperous and more united than it was in 2017. Coexistence paves the way”.
