  • On June 6, 2007, Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías denounced the development of a “soft coup”, or “long fuse” as he called it.
  • To millions of viewers, he revealed a conspiracy plan that was being implemented through a slow-motion coup, sponsored by the U.S. Government.
  • In his speech, President Chávez explained that the attempt would fail, since it had been discovered.
  • He also denounced that the plan articulated by the Secretary of the State Department, Condoleezza Rice, against a constitutionally elected legitimate government**** “is a sign of the decline of the United States.”
  • In turn, he accused the US Government of being the promoter of a series of events whose purpose was to “light the fuse” to cause an explosion.
  • He explained that “the strategy is easy, we have it discovered. They want to light the fuse so that it gets longer until any event causes the explosive charge to detonate.”
  • This was stated by the Head of State:
    • “We're going to try to stop the explosion from happening.”
    • He added: “I am at the forefront of this intelligence and counterintelligence operation, the protection of citizens, the neutralization of adversarial operations and the dismantling of their strategy.”
  • Another gringo defeat:
    • “A great defeat for the empire is what happened in Panama during the “37th General Assembly of the OAS”,
    • and described as “a sign of imperial decline”, Condoleezza Rice's proposal to send a commission to evaluate the cessation of RCTV broadcasts, and freedom of expression in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
    • President Chávez stated that “they didn't get a single country. Sometimes they succeed with pressure.”
    • In addition, he congratulated Foreign Minister Nicolás Maduro “for representing us with such height and dignity.”
    • I point out that the attitude of the United States is one more proof of the imperial strategy of “double action”: At the domestic level “encouraging and motivating actions against the country, the government, the people and the nation, and another at the international level”.

The context:

  • The Soft, Soft or Low Intensity Strike was devised by the American political scientist Gene Sharp, who since 1989 has been responsible for training agents for the implementation of these destabilizing government tactics in several countries around the world.
  • This is the influence that this coup strategy has had at the international level:

a) Starting in 1989, Gene Sharp participated in the establishment of the Burma Democratic Alliance, a coalition of anti-communists that managed to enter the military government.

b) Since then, he has participated with the Progressive Democratic Party of Taiwan, which is conspiring for the island's independence from communist China.

c) It has managed to concentrate the different Tibetan parties opposed to the Chinese government around the Dalai Lama, who is listed as a paid agent on the CIA's payroll.

d) In October 1990, Gene Sharp and his team traveled to Sweden to prepare several Lithuanian leaders to organize a popular resistance to the Red Army.

e) Months later, in May 1991, when the Russian crisis that led to the Fall of the Berlin Wall broke out, and Gorbachev deployed his special forces, Sharp served as an advisor to the separatist Sajudis party - Perestroika Initiative Group.

f) In 1996**, Sharp** was also actively involved in the overthrow of Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic.

g) In 2003, he organized the Rose Revolution, which overthrew Eduard Shevardnadze in Georgia.

h) In 2010, Gene Sharp was the architect of the Jasmine Revolution, which removed Abidine Ben Ali from the government in Tunisia.

i) In Venezuela, it operated through the NGO Fundación Juventud Activa Venezuela Unida, a “non-profit” organization opposed to the government of Hugo Chávez, made up mostly of previously trained young people. They are also known as the White Hands student movement, whose motto of non-violence did not match their practices. They were recruited, financed and trained by US agencies, and they were the protagonists of violent acts in the mobilizations of opposition protests. Its tactics come from the international organization OTPOR (Tactical Organization to Guide Resistance), JAVU (United Venezuela Active Youth), which caused guarimbas, dozens of deaths and damage to public domain assets, with strategies similar to color revolutions or Arab springs.
