So far in May, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) have destroyed 18 mining ponds in the Cunucunuma River in the state of Amazonas, said the strategic operational commander of the FANB, G/J Domingo Hernández Lárez.

Through a message published in his X account, the senior military officer indicated that these vessels have been detected during patrolling work in the Amazon rivers in the search for, location and dismantling illegal mining activity in any of its forms.

“River mining ponds are polluting factors and contribute to species destruction and sedimentation, resulting in death and destruction,” he said.
