Slovenia officially recognizes the Independent State of Palestine

Last Tuesday, Slovenia took a step in diplomatic matters by officially recognizing Palestine as a sovereign and independent State, an action that has been accompanied by several countries in recent weeks.
The decision was backed by 52 votes in favor in Parliament, without receiving any votes against, following the approval of a proposal submitted by the current Government.
The conservative and opposition SDS party, led by former Prime Minister Janez Jansa, decided to boycott the vote, considering that the coalition violated parliamentary regulations. On the other hand, the deputies of the also conservative NSI chose to abstain.
