The Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism (MINEC), Josué Lorca, announced this Tuesday the arrest of seven people who committed environmental crimes in the states of Mérida and Aragua, thanks to the coordination of efforts between the Popular Power and the security agencies of the Venezuelan State.

“Over the course of this week, we have received several complaints of environmental crimes, and consequently 5 arrested for causing forest fires in the Libertador and Santos Marquina municipalities of the state of Mérida,” said Lorca in his account on the social network X.

He added that the other two citizens were caught red-handed in the state of Aragua, when they were causing a forest fire in the Henri Pittier National Park.

The holder of the MINEC portfolio added photographic and audiovisual material confirming the damage caused by fires to the ecosystem, while urging the population to participate in the protection of the environment.

“The task of caring for Pachamama belongs to everyone, we are 100% committed to answering their calls to together guarantee the preservation of Mother Earth and all who live in it,” Lorca urged.
