Seven people were killed and 13 others injured in an Israeli missile attack on areas in the central province of Homs after midnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, a health sector official said.

Dr. Muslim Al-Atassi, director of health in Homs, informed local media that the death toll was officially confirmed at the end of rescue operations following the collapse of a residential building on Al-Hamra Street, in the city of Homs, caused by the attack.

Earlier this Wednesday, the Syrian Defense Ministry said that Israel carried out a missile attack around 00:30 local time on Wednesday (21:30 GMT Tuesday) from the north of the Lebanese region of Tripoli, against several sites in and around the city of Homs.

Several missiles were intercepted and destroyed by Syrian air defenses, while others landed in the Al-Qusayr field, causing fires in the surrounding area.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported nine explosions heard in and around Homs after the attack.

This attack was the latest in a series of Israeli offensives against military sites in Syria, and the observatory said that Israel also bombed sites belonging to the Lebanese group Hezbollah outside Homs.
