As part of the commemoration of World Disarmament Week, the National Service for Disarmament (SENADES) deployed a series of comprehensive approaches in the states of Monagas, Sucre and Nueva Esparta, aimed at academic training, healthy school coexistence and sports development for the prevention of violence and the construction of territories of peace.

In this regard, a training activity “Meet the Senades: Prevention, Disarmament and Culture of Peace” was offered, aimed at students of the Police Service of the National Experimental University of Security (UNES).

During the day, the mission and organizational structure of the institution were presented, delving into the mechanisms of forced and voluntary disarmament. In addition, emphasis was placed on the National Plan for Voluntary Disarmament, an initiative based on the principles of anonymity, respect and protection of human rights to encourage the delivery of firearms and ammunition in the national territory, in accordance with article 84 of the Law for Disarmament and Control of Arms and Ammunition.

For its part, in the state of Sucre, a recreational day was held with fourth-grade boys and girls at the Battle School of Ayacucho, Brazil, Altagracia parish; which highlighted the values of empathy, companionship and teamwork to prevent aggression and bullying.

“We met some special guests, Senades, a helping hand involved in our institution, carrying out a training and recreational day for World Disarmament Day, sharing excellent activities with our Basic Education family,” said Nirber Rosales, a member of the campus's administrative staff.

In addition, in the insular region, the headquarters of SENADES Nueva Esparta held the meeting “Sport without weapons, future with hope” at the Sabana de Guacuco Sports Club, Arismendi municipality, to promote sports and healthy recreation as effective alternatives to keep young people away from risk factors linked to firearms.

With these simultaneous actions, the National Service for Disarmament reaffirms its commitment to the training of future public servants and the consolidation of citizen coexistence and human rights throughout the country.
