SELA makes an offering to the Liberator in Caracas to commemorate the anniversary of the Panama Convention

The Permanent Secretariat of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) made a floral offering this Monday to the Liberator Simon Bolivar, in the National Pantheon, in Caracas, to commemorate the 49th anniversary of the Signing of the Panama Convention, with which the organization was created on October 17, 1975.
The permanent secretary of SELA, Ambassador Clarems Endara, participated in the protocol ceremony; the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Issues, Rubén Darío Molina; the ambassador of Barbados accredited to the country, Aquinas Clarke; the first secretary of the Embassy of Colombia, Germán Castañeda; and the chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of Cuba, Jorge Mayo.
SELA, based in Caracas, is currently comprised of 27 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean: Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Among the functions of the organization is the promotion of a system of consultation and coordination to coordinate common positions and strategies of the region, in economic matters, before nations, groups of countries, forums and international organizations and to promote cooperation and integration between these States, according to a press release from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.
