The flag bearer of Argentina for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Constanza Garrone, expressed this Saturday her rejection of the policies of the far-right president Javier Milei after shaking hands before traveling to the French capital.
The table tennis player, 27, took aim at the president through her official Instagram account where she published two strong stories after participating in the event in which Milei fired the Albicelestes athletes
With a short but lapidary video, Garrone exposed the politician for not funding amateur sports during the almost seven months he has been in office, when he published a photo greeting the head of state and, in the background, the renowned song La Argentindad al Palo, by La Bersuit Vergarabat. “An enormous honor to bring the most beautiful flag in the world to Paris. I do promise to take care of you and defend you as you truly deserve. Much more in these times,” he wrote.
Later, the athlete chose the song Somos Sur, by Ana Tijoux, and it was recorded washing her hands after shaking them with Milei.
Garrone joins the voices of other athletes who were against taking funds from some activities, such as Luciano De Cecco (volleyball) and Paula Pareto (judo).
