Secretary of ALBA-TCP highlighted the importance of technological independence

E| Secretary General of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, led the installation of the First Meeting of Ministers, Ministers and Senior Authorities in the Scientific and Technological Areas.

During his speech, Arreaza stressed the importance of the Alliance's member countries being able to “develop with our own capacities, with our own storage, data and information centers, to care for our peoples, to protect our peoples from the dangers of these technologies, today in the hands of millionaires, centers of power that threaten the minds and the spirit of life in society of the countries and peoples of the world”.

“As President Nicolás Maduro and the Cuban comrade Miguel Díaz Canel have said with great emphasis, we must generate, with our own capacities, technological sovereignty that allows us to improve our lives through technology, but to protect our peoples; also through technologies.”

For her part, the Minister for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, specified that professional and highly qualified labor is necessary, while valuing the efforts of President Nicolás Maduro in creating the National University of Sciences, which offers 12 new careers for training in these areas, which are available to the peoples of the regional block.
