The Minister for Women and Gender Equality, Yelitze Santaella, stressed that the signing of the regulation of the Organic Law on Women's Right to a Life Free of Violence consolidates public policies aimed at ensuring comprehensive care for Venezuelan women.
During an interview with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Santaella highlighted the guarantees provided by the new regulations. “Among the most important of these regulations are the guarantee of non-discrimination and identity protection. Early testing and the principle of non-revictimization also stand out, seeking to regulate the appearance of victims to avoid what we know as revictimizing a woman who suffers from violence,” she said.
The minister indicated that state institutions design public policies aimed at the care of women. In the case of violence, he highlighted the care provided through community ombudsmen's offices.
According to the official figures presented by Santaella, 40,184 women have been treated throughout the community ombudsman's office system and 7,711 public servants have been trained to receive inquiries. She also highlighted that the ministry has 150 active delegates dedicated to social protection and comprehensive care for women.
