On October 6, 1986, the San Carlos Barracks were declared a National Historic Monument.

The construction of this important structure began in 1787 with the objective of confronting the invaders of the capital city.

In 1812, during the earthquake in Caracas, the Barracks were partially destroyed until in 1839, by orders of Carlos Soublette, he ordered it to be restructured.

It has a rectangular one with walls 100 meters long on each side with security checkpoints in each corner, on two levels. It is worth noting that in 1811, after signing the Act of Independence, the patriotic tricolor designed by Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda was raised in this place.

With the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez, the Barracks became a museum. And recently, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, approved the proposal to convert this historic space into the National Headquarters of the Great Mission Viva Venezuela Mi Patria Querida.
