The representative of Venezuela to the United Nations, Samuel Moncada, during his speech at the 32nd session of the body that addresses the issue of the blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, said that “it is time to correct this historic injustice and to put an end to an imperial delusion that imposes its national laws on the entire international community.”

In this regard, the Diplomat reiterated Venezuela's support for the Draft Resolution that condemns the U.S. blockade against the Cuban nation and invited the international community to support “the Cuban Government in its just claim.”

Moncada assured that the imposition of blockades is a policy that affects all countries that have commercial relations with the nation on the island, while stating that “the U.S. regime will never achieve its objective of turning Cuba into a colony, since the Cuban people are determined to exercise their right to self-determination, independence, and national sovereignty.”

He also reiterated that the international community recognizes the illegality of this blockade, which flagrantly violates all norms of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, being “the most unjust, severe and prolonged system of unilateral coercive measures” applied against any country in modern history.
