The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, denied the accusations of the extreme right that they “have children in detention” in Venezuela.

In an interview for the show From Anywhere, he asserted that “no child has been arrested because of the riots and terrorist actions of July 29, because children are, legally, people from the time they are newborn babies until they are 10 years old.”

Saab explained that under Venezuelan legislation “children are not liable for any crime linked to any action. Neither are pre-adolescents who are between 11 and 13 years old,” while noting that “the minors who were arrested are 16 to 17 years old and, by the way, they have confessed that they were paid, that they were deceived, to intervene in these violent actions.”

He also questioned that opposition leaders and false NGOs that “funded by USAID and other foreign agencies. Instead, they haven't said anything about the more than 25 deaths that caused those riots.”

“There have been no complaints because there is no reason, there is no legal basis, there is not even the slightest indication that any of those people who were killed or injured are attributable to the State, that they are the responsibility of the State. Who is liable? The armed groups instrumented by the commandos, who contacted these people, who paid them from 20 to 40 dollars and approximately,” he said
