The Russian Federation proposed to evaluate the creation of a geopolitical group called BRICS Plus within the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), with the purpose of strengthening legislative cooperation and giving greater visibility to the nations of the Global South, according to information published by Telesur on its web portal.
During the XII BRIC S Parliamentary Forum, held in New Delhi, participating delegates emphasized the importance of strengthening joint mechanisms in multilateral settings, noting that “Inter-parliamentary cooperation constitutes a unique channel for strengthening mutual understanding and trust between peoples, expanding our international cooperation and promoting the values of inclusion, solidarity and sustainable development.”
The initiative seeks to consolidate a more representative global governance system through parliamentary diplomacy. The meeting also brought together representatives from different countries and included debates focused on equitable access to technological resources and the exchange of experiences on artificial intelligence.
The block of attending nations also evaluated the deepening of strategic ties in three fundamental axes: politics and security, economy and finance, and cultural and humanitarian relations, consolidating common positions in the face of current geopolitical challenges.
