Russia took control of Avdeyevka, in Donbas

Russian forces have taken control of the strategic city of Avdeyevka, in Donbass, after expelling Ukrainian troops from that key location, as reported by the news portal RT.
According to the publication, the information was released by the Russian Defense Minister, Sergey Shoigu, who highlighted “the complete takeover by the 'Center' troop group” of the city of Avdeyevka in the People's Republic of Donetsk.
The minister added that this area “represented a powerful defensive node” for Ukrainian forces, it was freed from Ukrainian troops, whose casualties in the fighting for Avdeyevka “exceeded 1,500 soldiers in the last 24 hours”.
“Under continuous fire from Russian forces, only a few scattered formations of Ukrainian fighters managed to leave Avdeyevka in a hurry, leaving behind their weapons and military equipment,” a Russian statement said.
It was also known that measures are currently being taken to permanently clear the city of fighters and block Ukrainian units that have taken refuge in the Avdeyevka coke plant.
