A massive drone attack carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the early morning of this Tuesday affected several energy installations on Russian territory, constituting one of the largest scale incursions recorded this year.

According to the TASS agency, based on balance sheets from the Russian Defense Ministry, anti-aircraft defense systems managed to intercept and shoot down a total of 856 unmanned aircraft over the Moscow region, the Republic of Crimea, the Black Sea and more than a dozen Russian provinces, leaving two workers injured in a Yaroslavl refinery.

Faced with these events, the official spokesperson of the United Nations, Stephane Dujarric, conveyed the organization's rejection: “The Secretary General is also concerned about reports of attacks by the Ukrainian armed forces against energy installations on Russian territory. The Secretary-General stresses that attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure, no matter where they are carried out, constitute a violation of international humanitarian law and such attacks must cease immediately.”

Spokesmen for the international organization reiterated that any aggression directed at non-military targets or energy networks violates the norms of international law, so they urged the parties to the conflict to immediately stop military actions against civilian infrastructure.
