Russia shoots down 35 Ukrainian drones on the last day of elections

The Russian Foreign Ministry added that all attempts to interfere with the conduct of the elections with terrorist methods will be recorded and investigated.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that between Saturday night and early Sunday morning, air defense systems shot down more than 30 drones coming from Ukraine, on the last day of voting in the Russian presidential elections.

According to the defense agency, a total of 35 drones were intercepted and shot down: four in Moscow province, three in Belgorod, two in Kaluga, one in Oriol, one in Rostov, four in Yaroslavl, 17 in Krasnodar and three in Kursk.

Russian authorities have highlighted that despite the Ukrainian attacks, around 60% of citizens eligible to vote have participated in the electoral process.

The Russian Foreign Ministry indicated that the Ukrainian Government has intensified its actions in relation to the current presidential elections in the country, to show Western allies its activity and ask for even more financial aid and weapons.

The Russian Foreign Ministry added that all attempts to interfere in the conduct of the elections “with terrorist methods will be registered, investigated and the perpetrators will be brought to justice.”

This Sunday, Russia celebrates the third and final day of the presidential elections, in which more than half of the 112 million Russians called to the polls have already participated.
