The spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, rejected the intentions of some North Atlantic Organization (NATO) countries such as the United Kingdom and France to promote the need to establish a “peacekeeping mission” in Ukraine.

“We believe that even the expression of such plans is a blatantly provocative step, which is not aimed at resolving the conflict, but at maintaining the unhealthy and harmful illusions of the Kiev regime's top brass,” the spokeswoman said.

“It is indicative that Washington is distancing itself from the plans of London and Paris, at least in word, to deploy a contingent in Ukraine. I think this is because they also assume what this could entail from a military point of view,” he added.

In this context, he recalled that foreign soldiers have been present in Ukraine since 2015 under the guise of instructors and volunteers.

Zakharova denounced that “certain political forces in Europe continue to pose obstacles to a process that is still under way and that could lead to a long-term agreement”.

He added that the word “resolution” gives these forces “gnashing their teeth, because their only agenda is escalation and carnage.” “The people of Ukraine can know exactly who to thank for the current conflict: (Volodimir) Zelensky and, of course, the leaders who support him,” he criticized.
