Russia repudiates new Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip

The Government of the Russian Federation repudiated the resumption of Israel's military operation in the Gaza Strip that took place during the early morning hours, which brought hundreds of fatalities.

“In Moscow, they regretted the resumption of the military operation by Israel in the Gaza Strip,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

After almost two months, Israel resumed its bombings against the Gaza Strip this morning, which have already caused more than 300 fatalities and more than half a thousand injuries, according to the report of the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian enclave.

In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federation stressed that it is impossible to achieve the liberation of people by force and “strongly condemns any act that leads to the death of peaceful civilians and the destruction of social infrastructure”.

Russia urged Israel and the Palestinian movement HAMAS to resume negotiations to reach a mutually acceptable solution to the problem of the release of the people being held, which would make it possible to normalize the situation in Gaza and begin the reconstruction of the Palestinian enclave.

The truce between Israel and HAMAS officially ended on March 1, hostilities did not resume because of attempts by mediators to involve the parties in continuing negotiations on an agreement for Gaza.

Israel stopped supplying electricity to the Gaza desalination plant and closed access to humanitarian aid trucks entering the enclave.

For six weeks, Palestinian groups freed 30 living hostages and handed over the bodies of eight dead. In turn, Israel released some 1,700 Palestinian prisoners and withdrew troops from inside the Gaza Strip, Sputnik said.
