This Thursday, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, supported the restrictive measures adopted by the communications regulator Roscomnadzor against the YouTube and Google platforms, and denounced these companies for joining the media aggression and anti-Russian propaganda promoted by the West against Moscow.
Russia, on several occasions, has imposed fines on major Western technology companies for not complying with local laws as well as disseminating prohibited content and refusing to remove false information.
At a press conference, Putin emphasized that these platforms “in particular should not be used and abused the network to meet the objectives of their governments”, in addition to complying with Russian laws.
Likewise, the head of state questioned that users who search for cultural or musical content on these platforms often find themselves with political propaganda against Russia instead of the topics they request.
“Or they start to practically take out of circulation the names of our artists, bloggers, political figures, and so on,” he said
