The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, warned that military
maneuvers by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) that have
been taking place since January 24 in Europe can cause serious incidents for that continent.
“This is a step deliberately
aimed at aggravating the situation and raising the
risk of military incidents with possible tragic consequences for
Europe,” said Zakharova.
In this regard, the
Russian diplomat exposed the provocative nature of NATO since the military exercises
of this body are close to the border of the Eurasian country, as published by the
Sputnik web portal.
“For several
months, a contingent of 90,000 soldiers from the 31 member countries of NATO
and Sweden will actively operate close to Russia's borders in an area that
ranges from Norway to Romania,” he said.
