Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported that Russia believes that the increased presence of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the Black Sea represents a threat.

“The concentrated presence of NATO ships, also considering both Bulgaria and Romania, the coastal states that are members of the alliance (...), poses an additional threat to the Russian Federation, especially considering the direct involvement of NATO countries in the conflict over Ukraine,” Peskov said.

In this regard, he assured that Russia will take measures to ensure its security, according to a note from Xinhua.

These statements came after the latest decree by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on a new maritime security strategy, which includes strengthening Ukraine 's naval forces and maintaining a permanent presence of NATO troops in the maritime zone.
