Russia confirms entry to the BRICS of Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Alexandr Pankin confirmed this Friday that Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand became partner countries of the BRICS group.
“Our colleagues from APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum), Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand have become partners in the partnership,” Pankin said at a joint meeting of APEC foreign and trade ministers.
Sputnik explained that the deputy minister assured that the XVI Summit of the BRICS group, held in October in the Russian city of Kazan, demonstrated the aspiration of the global majority to establish a just world order, reform global institutions and build equitable economic ties.
“A solid package of agreements was concluded in the areas of trade, investment, artificial intelligence, energy and climate, and logistics,” he said.
The diplomat added that the share of the economies of the Asia-Pacific region in Russian foreign trade has already reached 70%, and that almost 90% of the liquidations are made in national currencies.
From November 9 to 16, the APE C Economic Leaders Week will meet in Lima, Peru, the economic cooperation platform comprised of 21 countries located in the Pacific Ocean basin, including China, the United States and Russia.
