Representatives of Russia, China and Iran hold consultations in Moscow, this Monday, 07 and will conclude this Tuesday, April 8, to analyze the Iranian nuclear program focused on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, called the JCPOA agreement and Resolution 2231 of the Security Council of the United Nations (UN).

The trilateral dialogue was confirmed by the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baghaei, who noted that this is taking place in the midst of growing tensions with the United States, which has deployed bombers, troops and threatened attacks if Tehran does not accept direct negotiations under pressure, the Telesur website reported.

Since returning to the White House in January 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump has issued ultimatums, sending letters to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and deploying military capabilities in the region.

As reported by Washington, on March 7, Trump sent a first letter to Khamenei demanding a nuclear agreement in two months, followed by a second letter on March 12 transmitted by Emirati President Mohamed bin Zayed.

Iran denied sending the letters and rejected direct negotiations on March 30, proposing instead mediation through Oman, an offer that Trump dismissed when insisting on bilateral talks, “I think it's faster and that the other side is better understood.”

At the same time, the Pentagon announced the sending of troops, air support and B-2 bombers to the Diego Garcia base, capable of destroying underground facilities.

In February 2025, Trump signed an Executive Memorandum entitled “To exert maximum pressure on the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran”, which Tehran interpreted as evidence that Washington is seeking its capitulation, not an agreement.

On March 30, Trump threatened that “if negotiations don't move forward, there will be bombings like never seen before.”

Ali Khamenei responded the next day warning that “vicious acts” would receive a “powerful and reciprocal blow”, backed by the commander of the Revolutionary Guard, who recalled that the United States has “10 military bases with 50,000 soldiers in the region”, insinuating vulnerability to retaliation.

The JCPOA agreement, signed in 2015 by Iran, the United States, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, France and Germany, broke down when Trump abandoned it in 2018 and imposed unilateral sanctions.
