This Thursday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, met with his counterpart from the People's Republic of China, Wang Yi, in Laos, to highlight the importance of strengthening foreign policy coordination on various international platforms.

Russia Today (RT) explained that the ministers discussed cooperation in the context of the intensification of the activities of some countries to establish “narrow-block political-military mechanisms aimed at undermining the system centered on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for maintaining security and stability” in the region.

Likewise, the heads of diplomacy discussed the prospects for implementing the initiative initiated by the Russian side to create a new security architecture in Eurasia in a context of “stagnation of Euro-Atlantic mechanisms”.

They highlighted the importance of strengthening foreign policy coordination between Moscow and Beijing on various international platforms, such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the G20 and other formats.
