The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, indicated that the Simon Bolivar Liberator Law is in force and goes directly to the protection elements so that it never happens again that a candidate who aspires to hold public office requests foreign intervention.
After a meeting with authorities from the National Electoral Council (CNE), Rodríguez pointed out that there is no country that accepts in its laws or regulations that a candidate who wants to run for a position of popular election is also an agent of foreign power.
“It is unacceptable that, for example, a candidate for senator in the United States at the same time receives a salary from a power other than that country, the same thing happens with Europe, even more draconian laws apply to European countries and the United States. We have the Simon Bolivar Liberator Law in full force at the present time,” he said.
