“Today, as our Father has been designated a Mexican citizen, we are all Mexican citizens and Mexican citizens, and all Mexican citizens for us and for our hearts are Venezuelan citizens,” said the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, during the extraordinary session to commemorate the bicentenary of the granting of Mexican citizenship to the Liberator Simon Bolivar.

Rodríguez highlighted the satisfaction of the Venezuelan people at this commemoration, a time that recalled the ties of brotherhood and cooperation between these nations.

“It's a day to revalidate that if we can be free and equal, that we can shake off the yoke of oppressive empires like El Libertador, Simon Bolivar defeated the most powerful empire that existed 200 years ago,” he said.
