Ribas Mission: 20 Years of Educational Revolution

On November 17, 2003, the inclusive and quality curriculum for all Venezuelans, the José Félix Ribas Mission, was born, the creation that changed the country's education system with the implementation of a new political culture that proposed to democratize education within a framework of national integration.

Thanks to the fact that Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías was able to detect in terms of basic, diversified and professional education, the exclusionary system implemented by the governments of the for puntofijista democracy.

In October 2003, the Presidential Commission for Community Participation for the José Félix Ribas Extraordinary Mission Plan was created, coordinated by the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, in decree 2,656, in order to give way to this plan that would give the opportunity to study to the more than 5 million Venezuelans who at that time had not been able to complete their high school studies.

This mission, which was born to provide an answer in educational matters, has currently been incorporated into different processes that are framed in the fulfillment of tasks that contribute to the transformation and development of the country.

Taking on these new challenges, the Ribas Mission joined the Great Venezuela Housing Mission, the Great Mission To All Life Venezuela, as well as to new tasks that strengthen different induction plans such as: Technical Ribas, students graduated in Gas and Oil; graduated in Integral Community Medicine and Graduates in Education Mention Cultural Development.

Without a doubt, the Ribas Mission is part of that effort of the Bolivarian Government, and which Commander Chávez promoted, to strengthen educational processes through free education and that he is proud to say that 19 years after its founding, this educational program has graduated millions of Venezuelans: indigenous winners, winners in prisons, winners with disabilities and winners in garrisons.
