More than 2,600 civil protection officers, firefighters and members of the municipal and regional police and the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) are deployed in Cumanacoa, Sucre state, to treat people affected by the overflow of the Manzanares River, said the Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, A/J Remigio Ceballos Ichaso.

During a contact with the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, Ceballos explained that these officials remain deployed working hand in hand with the People's Power to ensure the fair distribution of supplies among those most in need.

For his part, the Minister of Public Works, G/D Raúl Paredes, reported that 17 machines and 26 dump trucks are deployed in the aforementioned eastern town to remove debris and mud that affect mobility.

“We can guarantee that on Saturday at 6 in the afternoon we will have all the territories that were affected by these rains cleared,” he said, while stressing that the teams are working on three major fronts of work.

He also pointed out that by Wednesday night they estimate that the municipal market and the passenger terminal have fully recovered, both of which were severely affected.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Food, M/G Carlos Leal Tellería, explained that “radio deployment” began from his office to guarantee the supply of food and drinking water for the entire population.

He explained that in the town they have 3 collection centers where they already have more than 100 tons of food in storage. “By Saturday, we expect to make a second delivery to reach 240 tons of food and thus ensure at least 15 days of food for the population,” he said.
