Venezuelans Reinaldo Argüello, Cristian Canache and Ray Acuña won bronze in speed tests and canoeing doubles at the Santa Fe 2026 South American Games.

The day opened with the podium achieved by the K2 500m couple made up of the consolidated Cristian Canache and Ray Acuña, constant medalists of the national team on international stages, and who this time won bronze after finishing with the third best record in the final of the race with 1:27.23.

“We knew that the competition was not going to be easy at all and yet we tried our best and won the bronze medal. I am very happy with the result because it is the first medal awarded to the discipline, we are going to keep going, paddling and focused on the goal,” said Canache.

The distance was dominated by locals Agustín Vernice and Gonzalo Carrera with 1:25.15 followed by the Uruguayan duo of Matías Otero and Santiago Melo with 1:26.61.
