The Queen of Triple Jumping, Yulimar Rojas, announced that she will not be able to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, after suffering an injury to her left achilles tendon.

The news was announced by the athlete, through a statement published on her social networks, where she said she had a broken heart for not being able to represent the country in the most important world event in sports.

The following is the full text of the statement:

To my country Venezuela, to the family of the Olympic and Sports Movement, especially to my supporters; I want to inform you that I will not be able to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

With a lot of pain and sadness I want to tell you that while training, after receiving a jump, I had severe pain that resulted in an injury to my left achilles tendon. My heart is broken too and I want to apologize for not being able to represent them in Paris 2024.

Today I am already recovering after my operation, which was performed this Thursday, April 11 at the CEMTRO Clinic in Madrid, Spain, with a wonderful team of professionals led by the specialist in Traumatology and Surgery, Dr. Pedro Guillén and supported by Dr. Tomás Fernández.

These have been very complex hours, in which I have questioned myself and analyzed why this happened, yet I understand that, in God's designs, we are only instruments of his will. Today I feel very emotionally affected by not being able to represent them, the desire to defend my Olympic title excited me tremendously, but today I have to stop, understand this, recover and return with great strength to continue flying together.

I want to thank my family and my entire team, who at this time have not separated themselves from me trying to make me understand the very complex situation that I am going through. I also express my thanks to the Venezuelan sports institutions for all their support.

I wish our Venezuelan delegation a lot of success in Paris 2024, and from now on I am very proud of you, and my track companions, who will do their best to achieve glory as well.

See you soon, with the same dreams and desires.
