(VICTIMS OF REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY, author: Raúl Zurita Daza; Nueva Voz Popular, February 25, 1969)
- On November 24, 1965, the young revolutionary Ramón Salvador Pasquier Suárez was arrested, tortured and, to this day, disappeared. This occurred in the vicinity of San Juan de los Cayos, edo. Falcon.
- He was kidnapped in the town's mayor's office at 2:00am and taken to the Theater of Operations No. 3 (TO3), located in El Tocuyo, edo. Lara. His captor was Captain Justino R. Segovia Segovia, CI.- 473,442, and Major Daniel Adam Romero was handed over to that torture center.
- Ramón Pasquier, 25, was an athlete and a third-year engineering student at the Central University of Venezuela (UCV).
- His brother, Andrés Pasquier, 29, was arrested a month earlier and also disappeared, on October 13, 1965. He was a lawyer who graduated from the UCV and was under constant surveillance by agents of the General Directorate of Police (DIGEPOL) for being the founder of the Revolutionary Left Movement (MIR).
- They were the children of Ana Suárez de Pasquier, who never ceased in her efforts to demand the appearance and surrender of her missing children by the government of Raúl Leoni, before all government and police bodies.
- He toured several times the five Theaters of Operations (TOs) active in Venezuela, as well as the dungeons and cells of the Armed Forces Information and Intelligence Service (SIFA) and DIGEPOL, existing in the country.
- Likewise, together with the Committee for Mothers and Widows of the Disappeared, he filed all the relevant complaints with the media, seeking the assistance and information that would allow him to obtain them.
- A letter signed by these desperate women, requesting an audience with the President of the Republic, went unanswered. Likewise, the then First Lady, Menca de Leoni, upon receiving them, did not even express her respect for them. He dispatched them without a word.
- Ana Suárez de Pasquier died without knowing anything about her two children.
- Recently, in July 2023, Judge Michel Adriana Velásquez Grillet ordered, in judgment 0832, that investigations be reopened by the Public Ministry to find the remains of these martyrs of the Fourth Republic.
- At the time of Raúl Leoni's Representative Democracy, the desperate mother of the Pasquier brothers, Ana Suárez de Pasquier, was denied the right to see her children, to provide them with food and clothing in prison, until they took their lives to disappear from her sight forever.
- Between 1958 and 1999, there were more than 11,000 victims who disappeared, tortured and murdered in the execution of policies of extermination, implemented by supposedly “democratic” governments.
- During the governments of Betancourt, Leoni, Caldera I and II, CAP I and II, Luis Herrera and Lusinchi, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) manuals on torture, disappearance and extermination were used. For those who committed such crimes against humanity, there was impunity, shelter and rewards; for the thousands of victims and their families, they tried unsuccessfully to apply the law of oblivion.
