The government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines will support all peaceful actions taken by Mexico to assert its rights over the violation of its diplomatic headquarters by Ecuador's security forces, said the island's Prime Minister, Ralph Gonsalves.

“The government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines unequivocally deplores the actions of the Government of Ecuador. All governments in the world know that the actions of the Ecuadorian Government are illegal, they subvert international law and the sovereignty of Mexico,” he said during his participation an extraordinary virtual meeting of leaders of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

In this regard, he asked that corrective actions be taken to return the status quo and the former Ecuadorian vice-president, Jorge Glas, to the headquarters of the Mexican embassy in Quito so that he can take advantage of what is established in the regulations related to asylum.

In the same way, Gonsalves called on the government of Ecuador to “do the right thing” with regard to its recent actions of violating Mexico's diplomatic headquarters in that country.
