On June 6, 1884, Rafael Bolívar Coronado, co-author of the lyrics of the popular Joropo Alma Llanera, was born in Villa de Cura, Aragua state.

Rafael Bolívar Coronado lived in Caracas in 1912 and collaborated on some of the most important publications of the time, such as El Cojo Ilustrado and El Nuevo Diario. After meeting Pedro Elías Gutiérrez, he wrote the lyrics to the zarzuela Alma Llanera, which premiered in Caracas in 1914.

The then President, Juan Vicente Gómez, awarded him a grant for Spain, where he created controversy within literary criticism, since he dedicated himself to publishing under pseudonyms, but the names he used were those of important Venezuelan writers, some of whom had recently died and others who were still living.
