In homage to the creator of the Morse code, Samuel Morse, May 24 is Radio Operator's Day to celebrate the work of the men and women who make every broadcast possible through this important means of communication.

May 24, 1848, was the first time that the first long-distance wireless communication could be established, between Washington and Baltimore, through the dot-and-stripe code invented by Samuel Finley Morse.
