The president of the Treasury Bank, Jimmy Berríos, mentioned that Plan Venezuela Renace is a social credit and not a mortgage loan, which is an initiative promoted to facilitate access to housing for people affected by the seismic event.

He also indicated that the Venezuela Renace Plan seeks to respond to the reality that the country has faced by creating flexible social credit.

“The president has placed a lot of emphasis on that and established a social credit that allows, let's say, those people to be able to access flexible financing. And he spoke of funding up to $70,000 with 80% subsidy and 20% funded,” said Berríos.

He added that this initiative has seven banking institutions. “I think this is a demonstration that the National Banking System, private banks and public banks are working hand in hand to address something that has affected, let's say, all of us as a country. There are four private banks and the three public banks working.”

Through the portals of the banks participating in the Venezuela Renace Plan, users can download the official form that specifies the two stages of the procedure. Phase two involves the formal delivery of legal documentation for the property, which includes records, cadastral certificates and a minimum identification of the property to be purchased in the secondary market.

During an interview with Venezolana de Televisión, she explained that this modality is different from mortgage credit, since when you go to the bank for a mortgage loan, the property serves as a guarantee and is reserved by the bank until the owner pays the last installment. This means that the person is not the final legal owner of the home until the full balance of the loan.
