The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, stated that he knows no precedent in the Western Hemisphere of an investigation that is more pirate, more mediocre, more full of legal loopholes and inconsistencies, than the one allegedly carried out by the Attorney General of Chile into the case of Ronald Ojeda.
“It will go down in the history of what should not be done in law, of what should not be done at the level of criminalism, of what should not be done at the level of criminology and for you to tell,” said the Prosecutor during a press conference.
He also argued that the president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, is a spokesperson against Venezuela, as part of the hybrid war to damage and affect its image, since “he has joined the narrative of the United States and El Salvador that every Venezuelan is linked to a dismantled gang misnamed at the time as the Aragua Train.”
He explained that the investigations carried out by the Venezuelan State and the Public Ministry into the Ronald Ojeda case first revealed that he was a lieutenant who was arrested in military jurisdiction for conspiratorial activities against the highest authority of the Venezuelan State, for which he was charged with three crimes, including rebellion and treason.
“Ojeda was also part of the planning of a coup d'etat, along with 11 other members of the army, they planned attacks on military units and intended to attack the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Nicolás Maduro, and for these events he was deprived of liberty and held in the National Center for Military Prosecutors of Ramo Verde and, while still being prosecuted, he escaped on November 31, 2017, when he was transferred from court, during The escape resulted in two guards seriously injured and one murdered by Ojeda, then he fled to Colombia, Peru and finally appeared in Chile,” he explained.
Saab recalled that on February 21, 2024, Ojeda was kidnapped from his apartment located in Santiago de Chile by a group of uniformed individuals wearing clothing from the Chilean Investigative Police who transported him in an unknown direction, until after the search work his body was found buried in a popular area of Santiago.
“At the time, the Chilean Public Prosecutor's Office said that it was a settlement of accounts between criminals, but suddenly Boric surely gave the order and changed everything to link him to the Aragua Train.
In that sense, he ironized that “if something happens at the North Pole and he is a Venezuelan he is linked to the Aragua Train, if a building suddenly falls in Japan, surely they say it was someone from the Aragua Train and so you will continue to hear atrocities like these.”
