Prosecutor Saab: Detainees for attempted attack against President Maduro claimed to be Vente Venezuela activists

The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, reported that the two individuals arrested for attempting an attack against the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, at the rally on the occasion of the registration of their candidacy with the National Electoral Council (CNE), were identified as Jerry Ostos Perdomo and Carlos Castillo, who claimed to be political activists of the Vente Venezuela movement led by the extremist opposition María Corina Machado.

Through his account on the social network X, Saab explained that Ostos Perdomo and Castillo, “were just 20 meters from the Presidential platform in front of an audience of supporters of the Head of State: in a suspicious attitude and carrying firearms”.

He noted that, as part of the ongoing investigative development, “several raids are being carried out.”

“In the next few hours, these subjects will be brought before the respective Control Court for the crimes of: Terrorism, Association, Attempted Murder, Instigation to Hate and Illicit Carrying of Firearms in Prohibited Places,” he stressed.
