Prime Minister of São Tomé and Príncipe arrives in Venezuela

The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, received this Tuesday at Simón Bolívar International Airport, in the state of La Guaira, the Prime Minister, Patrice Emery Trovoada, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Communities, Gareth Guadalupe, who are leading a delegation from the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe that visits Venezuela.

During this official visit, the African delegation is focused on strengthening cooperation and friendship, within the framework of Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy, based on relations of respect and self-determination of peoples.

In 2009, the General Cooperation Agreement and the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of the Political Consultation Mechanism were signed in Caracas. Also, in 2011, with the objective of deepening the ties of cooperation between the parliaments of both countries, a delegation from the National Liberation Movement Party of São Tomé and Príncipe (MLSTP) was in Caracas.

Venezuela and São Tomé and Príncipe have been successful with cooperation in the education sector, graduating 11 students from São Tomé and Príncipe in Integral Community Medicine, within the framework of the International Student Program of the Grand Mariscal Foundation of Ayacucho (FUNDAYACUCHO).

Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and São Tomé and Príncipe were formalized with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries in August 2006, following the first official visit of a delegation from the South American nation to the African country.
