The Presidential Commission for the Recovery of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) maintains the deployment of technical infrastructure works in the University City of Caracas, focusing operational work on the comprehensive rehabilitation of the water and sanitation network that serves the university dining facilities.

Specialized crews are carrying out the complete replacement of the wastewater and sewage collectors of the sanitary modules, as well as the renovation of the drinking water pipes that supply both the bathrooms and the food preparation and cooking areas, the Última Noticias portal reported.

As part of the technical modernization of the enclosure, an industrial barrier filtering system —composed of layers of gravel, silica sand, zeolite and activated carbon—has been installed with the purpose of increasing the purification and adaptation of the water resource used in the production of student trays.

To meet the architectural conservation criteria of the UCV Heritage Complex, the location of these filtration equipment was restructured: the components, which were originally located at the external entrance, were relocated inside the building, protecting the original façade of the structure.

In parallel, the intervention involves cladding walls, placing completely new sanitary pieces in the bathrooms and replacing all the lockers and operating furniture intended for the workers and administrative staff who guarantee the daily operation of the dining room.
