The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with senior officials of the Ministry of Defense this Monday warned of the growing presence of the North Atlantic Organization (NATO) in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Alliance is increasing its presence in the Asia-Pacific region. At the behest of the United States, new political-military alliances are being formed that undermine security architectures established for decades,” said Putin.

He denounced that the United States (US) creates and is preparing the deployment of ground attack systems “with a range of up to 5,500 kilometers and the transfer and deployment of these missile systems is already being developed in Europe and in the Asia-Pacific region.”

NATO's long-standing ambitions went far beyond the so-called area of historical responsibility,” lamented the Russian leader, according to a press release from Sputnik.

He also added that the countries of the block are increasing their military spending, as well as creating “attack groups of alliance troops” near the Russian borders. In particular, according to the president, the US military in Europe has already exceeded 100,000.

The Federation has warned for years about the expansion of NATO to the Russian borders, the accumulation of allied forces in Europe, the continuous increase in military spending within the block and its growing involvement in the Ukrainian conflict.
