President Putin highlighted Russia's key role in world trade

This Friday, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, participated in the plenary session of the XXVII International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2024), classified as one of the largest business events in the world that kicked off on June 5 in the city of St. Petersburg.

Putin focused on sovereignty and the state of trade relations in the world, highlighting how the Federation has been adapting to sanctions. “Despite all obstacles and illegitimate sanctions, Russia remains a key player in global trade,” he said.

The head of explained that the volume of trade with Asia grew by 60% and with Latin America, by 42%, while adding that the volume of goods traffic through Russia is expected to multiply by 1.5 between now and 2030.

He also stressed that Russia's economic growth rate is higher than the world average and that this growth is mainly driven by industries not related to resources, specifying that Russian GDP grew by 3.6% last year and a similar trend was also registered in the first quarter of this year.
