The president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, officially announced the dissolution of the General Courts and the advance of the general elections for next Sunday, November 29, in an institutional declaration made after the parliamentary blockade generated by opposition sectors and the rejection of key decrees on housing and social protection, Telesur explained

The extraordinary call was formalized this Monday after initiatives aimed at containing rent prices and guaranteeing access to decent housing failed in Congress, at a time when the right wing and conservative sectors hindered the progress of the reforms of the progressive coalition. During his appearance, the head of the Executive pointed out the need to appeal to popular sovereignty to form a solid legislative majority capable of defending social rights and economic stability.

The Spanish president opposed the achievements of his administration in terms of employment, economic growth and energy transition against the position of sectors of the extreme right and corporate elites that seek to reverse the country's agenda of social inclusion.

The official decree of parliamentary dissolution will be published this Tuesday, kicking off the pre-campaign period and the legal deadlines established by Spanish electoral regulations.

Faced with the new electoral scenario, social movements and progressive organizations have ratified their willingness to mobilize working people at the polls to defend popular sovereignty, consolidate the social advances achieved and stop the advance of reactionary forces in the Iberian nation.
