The president of the National Assembly (AN), deputy Jorge Rodríguez, informed the Plenary of the Parliament that he held a meeting with authorities of the Venezuelan Red Cross.

The highest representative of the Legislative Branch reported on his Telegram channel that the president of the Venezuelan Red Cross raised the need to promote a Venezuelan Red Cross Bill, to protect the function and mission of this organization in our country. “Count on the peremptory work of the Legislative Branch for the approval of this legal instrument!

Rodríguez explained that the International Red Cross and the Venezuelan Red Cross have accompanied State institutions with their eight hospitals, with first responders, their postgraduate doctors and in the care of migrants in the Plan Back to the Fatherland; in addition to vaccination and care plans in neighboring areas, the AN reported on its web portal.

He said that countries in the American continent, such as Argentina, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, have this legal instrument.

The President of the National Parliament delegated to the Standing Committee on Education, Health, Science, Technology and Innovation to undertake, together with the Legal Consultancy and the Secretariat of the AN, the communication process with the Venezuelan Red Cross, in order to promote the bill, to be presented to the Plenary.

Also present at the Regular Session were the head of the regional delegation of the international committee of the Red Cross, Valeri Hober, and the head of the delegation for Venezuela of the International Federation of the Red Cross, Nelson Alí Rodríguez.
